For my research topic i will be researching the influence of votes that politicians receive due to the use of media such as social networking and other uses of media.
What i hope to show is the way technology has now been utilized now for more reasons than just entertainment. Being that technology is now a powerhouse in the midst of the nation and majority of the world, it would be plausible for politicainas to get their word across and ultimately gain the eyes and votes of the people.
With this topic being researched; i will need to gain research pertaining to this topic. I will first need to gain surveys from different students about the previous election between mitt romney and nBarack Obama and how many of them supported their politicians technologically. What i will also need is statistics and records concerning politicians who have used the web and other technologies to help gather votes (ex.Tweets and FB posts).
Who i will mainly focus on and research will be students or people who use social networking and internet media alot to get updates or to leanr more about a topic-in this case political matters. How i will get these will be by interviewing and doing mass surveys between students and people to prove how often people use technology to get answers or to learn about something. Where i will mainly do interviews will be at Kean University and keep my research contained for easy processing and forming into a paper. As of right now i do not have a specific number of people i will interview but to round it off it will be no more than ten. Like i said, i need to keep it contained and easy to process and further my research.
Being as how technology today can be declared discourse analysis and also a common lexis between a mass group of people, discourse will be the main topic in my research. Another method will be personal interviews and also mass surveys to gain information to build my paper. It will be a strenuous task, but with all the right information i will be able to create a good paper with good information.

Blog 6
Through taking ethnographic field notes and observing the class I have found that this class in particular is a discourse community. Every individual has different patterns of how they ask, respond, answer in light of conversation. Each student and even the professor have different styles and beliefs when it pertains to social interaction. An example of this was when the professor asked the class to take ethnographic notes of the current class and the motion would to be to slowly move throughout the class while still giving the present lecture.
What i have also noticed is that the way the class is run shows discourse. For most of the classes i have attended, it was more of the teacher lecturing and the students quiet and attentive. With this class it is a more free environment where interaction is appreciated even though sometimes it is quiet.
Shared goals are pretty similar when it comes to the class. Finishing the class with a best possible grade is an example of a shared goal between students. At this moment in college, student share majority of the same goals even though they are studying for different majors. To graduate and continue our lives successfully is another shared goal-mostly pertaining to this class.
Also to notice in this class, there is a lot of shared genres within this class between the students and the professor. Brannick’s definition of Genre as a “text which helps facilitate communication between people” serves well as we see what is also being held 'Big C' conversation. We use different variations of lingo and word pairs to interact and hold conversations with each other. Sometimes students in the class adopt different wording from their outside discourse communities but all in all it does integrate to which everyone is on the same page and can hold Conversation which keeps the moving. There are other means of genre in which keeps us on the same page when it comes to class. An example would be the blog that holds different assignments and notes which keeps all the students in sync.
All-in-all i would say that this class is a Discourse community. It is a melting pot of different backgrounds and lives integrating with one another while still keeping many of the current goals which are to be achieved similar. By using different discourses, we were able to mold a community of discourse into our own class in which i think all writing studies class do.

Blog 5 1/2:ethnography
Professor Chandler asked students to show their research topics and discuss it among the classroom. For brief moments, students kept quiet, waiting to see which student will speak first. Mike volunteered his services by stating his research topic.
His topic was about comedians and what gets the public laughing and entertained. He has stated that some of his methods were to research comedians on video sites. The professor suggested that maybe he could go to comedy clubs t o get a more in depth look.
Professor Chandler continued her teaching while students continued to take enthographic notes. She asked the class for two methods in which Sarah gave the answer Discourse Analysis and Ethnography. The professor followed up by asking for more mehtods in which the students looked through their notebooks for the answer. After brief moments the answers were displayed as Surveys and interviewing. The question was raised to the class if everyone knew what a survey was and he professor made a joke considering silly surveys you would see on the internet.
The subject of research topics was back at hand. As student, curly hair and glasses spoke of his topic considering reading a book and watching the movie adaptation of it.
From then on it was hard to take notes and also pay attention to the current teachings. Ethnographic notes are not for me because it was hard to observe and also record every event that was happening continuously.

Blog 5: Introduction
Choose one of the (possible) research projects you have been thinking about and brain-storm the kinds of materials you would need to discuss in your introduction for a research essay on this project.
My topic that i will be researching is the use of media within the political parties. Since this topic has a broad spectrum of things i will need to make a very precise introduction. The introduction should be the summary of all that you will be discussing in the research article.
What will be in my introduction first is the what i am going to be discussing (topic) within the research project. Since the project is about the use of media between political parties to gain votes, it would be good to start off by giving the audience an in depth explanation.
What will be there next is why this was my choice and the reason it intrigues me so much. Considering that social media and politics is a very big part of our american life; it is a very big topic to research and be able to notice what influences americans to make choices regarding the whole country or how can politicains entertain while educating voters on their plan.
What i will have to do next is to talk about the significance it has as a valid topic for research. Also in the introduction i will summarize everything i am doing inside the reaserach paper with brief points to give the audience a clear understanding of what will be done inside the research paper.
Finally i would put a sentence that will link the introduction to the first body paragraph to begin my paper. It will probably be a hook line to keep the audience on the edge even in the introduction. I have to keep all viewers attentive and aslo knowedgable of the things that shape our country or what influences people by different means or methods to attract.

Blog 4: Shaggy Dog Analyzation
Question: How does the panda joke uses Intertexuality and other tools to create the humorous punchline?
Answer: for this joke, one might say it is simple but also complex when you include the analyzation methods for the joke. To the regular wavering eye, the joke is just a play off of words which one may see, but to an analytical person it is a great masterpiece. The panda joke uses all of the tools we have learned in class from Gee's explanation. The two main points that I have seen were intertexuality, and social languages.
The way intertextuality is used is by using a common line and switching it up with different wordings similar to the the subject of the panda. Giving that the common knowledge known about pandas is that it spends its days chewing on bamboo chutes. What the joke implies is that a panda walks into a restaurant and shot up the place and when the matree'd was asked about what happened he replies he "Chutes and leaves". The wordplay by replacing 'shoots' and 'chutes' (the bamboo) and 'leaves' and 'leaves' (as an expression to exit an area) and common knowledge of a panda creates the punchline and gives it a humorous affect towards the audience.
Social language is also used. To explain it is just like the previous explanation above. The language we have grown up with and was taught teaches us to differentiate between words that sound the same but have totally different definitions. With this being said, the way joke works really well to hit hard with the punchline is by taking the rules of differentiating words and discarding them. Given the common knowledge majority was taught about pandas (yet again explained in the summary of intertextuality) and taking away the rules our social language has been set in place, the punchline makes more sense through analyzation.
